Refrigerators
Refrigerator Policy Statement
At Extra Wrench, fairness comes before sales. Refrigerators are uniquely complex, and often risky, to repair. Diagnosing them over the phone isn't reliable, and many issues require multiple visits due to:
- Interdependent systems: problems often involve overlapping parts, making isolated diagnosis difficult.
- Temperature adjustments: units need up to 24 hours to stabilize, delaying resolution.
- Defrosting and access: repairs may require repeated defrosting and emptying, costing time and inconvenience.
I recommend careful consideration before pursuing out-of-warranty refrigerator repairs. Diagnosis calls are $100, assuming the unit is accessible, empty, and ready for testing. Otherwise, the standard rate is $150/hr (1-hr minimum). All repair calls are billed at standard rates plus parts. I do not perform sealed-system repairs, and I do not install or haul away refrigerators.
What I Do and Don't Do
I perform no service that requires any alteration to your home. My repair starts and stops at the appliance. Plumbing, electrical, gas lines and valves, carpentry and ducting at the service location are not services I provide.
Service Area
I actively serve communities near Bangor. Some outlying areas are served case by case, address by address; please contact me before booking. See service areas.
