Extra Wrench Home and Industrial Services: Professional Refrigerator Repair for Your Home and Business

Refrigerator Policy Statement
At Extra Wrench, fairness comes before sales. Refrigerators are uniquely complex, and often risky, to repair. Diagnosing them over the phone isn't reliable, and many issues require multiple visits due to:
- Interdependent systems: problems often involve overlapping parts, making isolated diagnosis difficult.
- Temperature adjustments: units need up to 24 hours to stabilize, delaying resolution.
- Defrosting and access: repairs may require repeated defrosting and emptying, costing time and inconvenience.
I recommend careful consideration before pursuing out-of-warranty refrigerator repairs. Diagnosis calls are $100, assuming the unit is accessible, empty, and ready for testing. Otherwise, the standard rate is $150/hr (1-hr minimum). All repair calls are billed at standard rates plus parts. I do not perform sealed-system repairs, and I do not install or haul away refrigerators.
Our reliance on refrigerators is unparalleled by any other appliance. Unfortunately, modern refrigerators have become increasingly complex, expensive, and prone to issues. Consequently, it is imperative to have an expert whom you can rely on for an accurate diagnosis of your refrigerator's problem and trustworthy advice on how to proceed cost-effectively. Sealed-system issues falling outside the realm of warranty will often exceed the refrigerator's value. For this reason, I refrain from performing sealed system repairs. Such repairs are often unjustifiable in terms of the refrigerator's value, and the costs associated with providing such services cannot be recovered. Rest assured that when you contact Extra Wrench Home and Industrial Services, you will receive professional, trustworthy service. My assessments prioritize you, your family, and your finances, rather than my profits.

Common Repair Services Performed:
Here are some of the most common complaints that homeowners have about refrigerators that may require repair:
- Not cooling properly: This is one of the most common problems reported by homeowners. It can be caused by a variety of issues such as a malfunctioning compressor, a broken thermostat, a faulty evaporator fan, or a clogged air filter.
- Leaking water: Water leaks can occur due to a variety of reasons such as a clogged or frozen defrost drain, a broken water inlet valve, or a faulty water dispenser.
- Strange noises: Refrigerators can make a variety of noises such as humming, buzzing, or clicking, which can be due to a malfunctioning compressor or condenser fan.
- Ice maker issues: Common problems with ice makers include failure to make ice, producing hollow or small ice cubes, or leaking water.
- Door seal problems: If the door seal is not sealing properly, cold air can escape from the refrigerator, making it work harder and reducing its efficiency.
- Frost buildup: Frost can build up inside the freezer, making it difficult to close the door properly and leading to further cooling issues.
- Electrical problems: Electrical issues such as a blown fuse, tripped circuit breaker, or a faulty electrical socket can cause the refrigerator to malfunction.
It is important to note that these are just some of the common complaints that homeowners have reported and that there may be other issues that can arise with refrigerators. If you are experiencing problems with your refrigerator, it is always recommended to seek professional assistance from a trusted technician.
What I do and don't do: I perform no service that requires any alteration to your home. My repair starts and stops at the appliance. Plumbing, electrical, gas lines and valves, carpentry and ducting at the service location are not services I provide.
